Aligarh, February 9: The Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today concluded its 14-days Orientation Programme on “Research Methodology: Islamic Perspective” in collaboration with the Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi with a Valedictory Function held at the Conference Room, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Discussing the current Western Methodology of research, the chief-guest, Prof Akhtar ul Wasey (President, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur and Professor Emeritus, Jamia Millia Islamia) said that there are times when unclear notion of reality leads to the deficiency in research methodology. He added that scholars adopted materialism as being the essence of reality while ignoring or rejecting the spiritual factor in studying the social realities.

Prof Jamil Farooqui from ILU Malaysia, who attended the function as a guest-of honour said that the ‘Islamic Perspective’ emphasizes the need for empirical research in the light of Quran and Sunna while explaining the relevance of traditional sources of research.

Prof Shamim A Ansari (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences) thanked the guests for their taking time out of their schedule to attend the lecture. He added that the lectures of the guest speakers have been inspiring for the participants.

Prof Akbar Husain proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Nasheed Imtiyaz presented the programme report, while Dr Huma Parveen conducted the valedictory function.
